Pompeii Live for The British Museum
Bettany Hughes and Peter Snow, presenters for Pompeii Live, are joined by guests including Neil MacGregor, Mary Beard, Rachel de Thame, Giorgio Locatelli, and exhibition curator Paul Roberts for this special tour of The British Museum's 2013 exhibition 'Life and death in Pompeii and Herculaneum.' The exhibition takes you back to AD 79 to reveal how life was altered when Pompeii and Herculaneum were buried by the calamitous eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
The two cities lay preserved beneath the ash, their rediscovery now giving us a singular and unique glimpse into the daily life of the Roman Empire. Join the tour of this blockbuster exhibition that transports us to the heart of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
"This kind of innovative broadcasting - unthinkable even five years ago - has opened up new ways of sharing knowledge and accessing objects for adult and young audiences alike," said MacGregor.
Join the live stream that excited five-star reviews from critics with the Daily Telegraph noting, "the quality of much of what has come to London beggars belief."
Life and death in Pompeii and Herculaneum was sponsored by Goldman Sachs. The exhibition was a collaboration with Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Napoli e Pompei.
