2009- Bettany was invited to re-open the new Ashmolean Museum, Oxford after its 61 million pound re-design. She was given a Special Award for Services to Hellenic Culture and Heritage by the Greek state. Her Youtube films on East/West understanding with the Foundation for Science Technology and Civilisation were part of the content that won Queen Rania's Youtube site Youtube's first ever Visionary Award.

Feb 14 7pm- 'THE DAUGHTERS OF EVE' Bettany explores the role of women in the Bible for Channel 4's new series THE BIBLE: A HISTORY.

March 24- 'THE STORY OF THE ANCIENT WORLD-WITH BETTANY HUGHES' An eight week season on More4, 9-10.30 pm, covering 3000 years of humanity's history.

March 24- ALEXANDRIA: CITY OF DREAMS. A landmark feature length documentary investigating one of the worlds greatest but most neglected cities.

October- THE HEMLOCK CUP- A major new book on Socrates, published by Jonathan Cape in the UK and Knopf in the US.

Next year Bettany will be a judge on the Orange Prize and will be starting a major new series for BBC Radio 4. She is also producing a landmark series on the story of Civilisation- starting East and Working West, in conjunction with the Centre for the Alliance of Civilisations in Istanbul.
